Sad Love Songs

Jacob Borshard sings the most beautifully sad love songs while strumming his ukulele. He has a new album out, and all of his music is avaliable for free on his site.

Bike Helmet

I'm awful. I ride in the city with no helmet. That is going to change soon though, because I am going to buy one. I have narrowed it down to two. Which should I pick?
here with a sale price and shipping included
OR
here full price, shipping not included, and a little risky since its from a seller on Amazon with no reviews

Sundays of My Youth

boston creme donuts.
Originally uploaded by holdxfast
Growing up was junk food free. No sugary cereals, candy, baked goods, snack food, soda, etc in our house at all- nothing. Of course we had Halloween candy, and treats on birthdays and holidays but never just because...except on Sundays.
Mom would drag my sister and I to church, and for a reward we would each get to choose a treat from the grocery store bakery box. I have always been a creature of habit, so every week it was the same pastry delight- a Boston Creme Donut.

What I Look Like Wednesday

While preparing this photo, I snapped a few by accident. One of those pictures beat out the one i set up for.

Color Week, Day 5

Today is the final day of color week. Stripes and plaids was the most difficult for me to find.
I took this today in the bitter, bitter cold on a walk with the pooch.

Ryan and I are plain Jane when it comes to our clothes. When Ryan strays from his solids he goes with stripes. Its my guess that there is some sort of Nirvana connection, even if its only subconscious.

I got this dish towel in a set with all the days of the week. Isn't that so sweet?

What I Look Like Wednesday

Ryan will be out of the area for a couple months. I have decided to start a weekly self-portrait post called "What I Look Like Wednesday" to insure he won't forget what I look like. Of course, it is not like he will since her already has snapped over one thousand photos of me during six months together.
This is me in my brand new denim apron taking a break from paint stripping. Please be patient the photos will get better..the camera on a timer and perched on the cabinet in the bathroom wont last long.

Color Week, Day 3

Yellow is the color of the day.

A Pyrex bowl my mom got as a wedding gift. Its new home is here with me in Philly, thanks mom!

Color Week, Day 2

Today is Purple Tuesday. I took/am taking a majority of my photos outside. This project has encouraged me to spend more time breathing fresh air, and taking our dog, Rudy, out to play. Winter is season that is more conducive to snuggling in bed with a good book and some tea, but not when you have colorful photos to take.

Speaking of purple, I was clicking around YouTube and found this charming girl singing 'Purple Bottle'

Resolutions 2009-Finally

Tonight I sat down with a pen and a piece of paper to write my 2009 resolutions. Here they are:
-Take Action
Planning is easy for me. Organizing, managing time, creating lists, etc.--no problem. I have been taking the lazy way out more often then not, and would like to get in the habit of following through in what I'd planned.
-Keep In Touch
I go through sperts of self imposed isolation/hibernation/reclusiveness, and I've noticed that friends get a bit ticked off when I have these episodes. Keeping up contact via letters, email, and phone calls will all be on my to-do list in 2009.
-Strech More
Phisical activity that comes with living in a city has left me unflexable compared to last year.
-Make More Art
Simple.
Goal: Surpass the number of books read in 2008.

Tuesday Night Dinner

Waving Lace
Originally uploaded by snowdropsense
Tuesdays around these parts mean one thing- a gathering of friends. This gettogether started as a signing and knitting group where we'd exchange knowledge, but there has been a recent morph where not to much knitting or signing goes on. One thing that hasn't changed is the eating. We eat, and eat regardless of the location. The food is always delicious, and mostly an experiment when Ryan and I are hosting. Every time Tuesday rolls around I want to snap a few photos to share the happenings of the evening (food and company alike), but it seems that I get caught up in the making, laughing, and catching up. Perhaps next time.

P.S. I have been meaning to post about new years resoloutions, but I haven't had enough focused energy to concentrate on a list. It will happen soon, I hope.

Happy 2009!

Pink Mummer

I bundled up nice and tight this morning to watch the Mummers strut their stuff. It was my very first time seeing this parade, I loved it! Some of the first mummers date back to pagan Rome and Greece-interesting! Our Mummers are just as fancy, and probably as drunk too.

Happy New Year!
